Group Pilgrimage

Back in the early days of 1860, foreign missionaries came to Tai Po from Tsuen Wan. The main footpath taken went from Tsuen Wan over the mountains which led to Tai Po across Leadmine Pass, and so through Wun Yiu. There the party stopped and preached. Several of the villagers came forward to express their belief in what the missionaries were saying. More importantly, the villagers offered the missionaries a small brick-built building as a chapel and residence: this is the true date for the start of Catholic life in Tai Po.
