Application Form for Service Ministries

1. Altar Servers
The Saturday and Sunday teams serve the anticipated Sunday mass and the two Sunday masses respectively, assisting the priests during the Eucharistic celebrations, and seeing to the smooth running of the Liturgy especially at Christmas, New Year and Lent. They undergo training and formation before becoming full-pledged member and are also trained to assist the priest at Holy Communion when needed.

2. Choir Ministry
This ministry sees to it that songs during liturgical celebrations are attuned with the Sunday reading themes. They invite the faithful to participate, to make of the Eucharist really a community prayer and celebration. The mass readings and songs are projected on power point so as to facilitate this full participation of the assembly. The choir also helps at other functions like bible sharing, baptisms, retreats, parish celebrations, etc.

3. Ushers’ Ministry
This ministry helps maintain a climate of hospitality in the church, sees to the smooth and orderly atmosphere at Eucharistic celebrations, shows people to their seats and takes up the collection. They also help sell the Sunday Examiner. The ushers undergo orientation and training before they take up their responsibilities in the ministry.

4. Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist
This Ministry is composed of the Eucharistic Ministers and the Readers /Commentators. The Eucharistic Ministers assist the priest at Holy Communion. Readers proclaim the Word of God, and together with the Commentators, organize the readings and commentating during the mass. They help see to the procedures during special liturgical feasts and celebrations.

5. Help Desk Ministry
This ministry was established in 2007 to respond to the needs and problems encountered by migrant workers, who comprise a big part of the membership of the English community. The Help Desk organizes information talks and forums on the rights and duties of migrant workers, on how to seek legal assistance, and offer referral service. They familiarize themselves with the services offered by the Hong Kong diocese for the migrant workers so as to make the proper referral.

6. Social Concern Ministry
This team was established in 2007 to work in collaboration with the Chinese Community Social Concern Group, like visiting the elderly homes and hospitals during special festivals and Christmas. They motivate and invite members of the English community to participate in these organized parish activities.

7. Newsletter Team
This team sees to the articles and contributions from the English community for the Parish Newsletter. They follow up on events and activities, write and compose parish ‘news report’ so as to keep everyone informed about the happening in the community.

8. Saturday Group
The English Community Saturday Group is organized with its own coordinator, ministry leaders and members. They meet every 1st Saturday of the month, organize bible sharing on 2nd Saturdays, and have their formation sessions every 4th Saturday of the month. They serve the anticipated Sunday masses.
